Do you have a spooky story to tell? Submit your spooky story to the Library for a chance to win a prize and have your story shared online!
What you need to know:
- This is for kids or teens in Pre-K through 12th grade
- Write an original story involving something spooky
- We'll judge the entries and choose the spookiest story of them all!
What are the rules?
- You must write a spooky story up to 1,500 words long. We'd prefer a typed story, but will also accept handwritten stories. Note: if you can't write yet, a grownup can write down your story for you.
- Your story must be your own original work. this includes text, characters, and settings you use. Please no fanfiction!
- Your story must use language that is library appropriate.
- Stories that do not follow these rules will be disqualified.
What can I win?
- Winners will receive a prize.
- If you give us permission, we'll also publish your story on the library's website and social media pages for all to read.
What else do I need to know?
- All entries must be turned in at the front desk by 7:00pm on Thursday, October 30.
- Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, quality of writing, adherence to contest rules, and spookiness! Judges' decisions are final.
- Entries will not be returned. Please make a copy of your spooky story before turning it in.
