For those who were unable to attend our first Frenchtown History collection day, we are having a second meeting and asking you to attend. Over 200 hundred photographs, documents, items, etc. were identified and copied at our first meeting. Dig out those old family pictures and documents that your family has in order to properly document the history of Frenchtown in the Belleville area. We are looking specifically for first generation, original photographs that we can scan while you wait.
Why are we doing this? The Belleville Area Historical Society will be creating a display for the Library. Their first display will be on the history of the French immigrant settlement in the Belleville/Montrose/Exeter area as they began arriving in the 1850's through the 1920's. Join the BAHS for a work day to get everything organized and make this happen!
