Artist Julie Sutter-Blair Biography

Framed print by Julie Sutter-Blair titled "Good Wishes"

Julie Sutter-Blair

Julie grew up in Cross Plains and attended UW Madison. For the last 30 years, she has been a self-employed artist, most recently devoting time to printmaking.

“Looking back, it was a trip to Germany that I took in college that may have influenced me most,” said Sutter-Blair. “I went into an art store and bought a beautiful tin of color pencils that unknown to me at the time, changed my life!”

She lives with her husband Tim and a nine-month-old puppy that “has stolen my heart.”  Their son Patrick, “has flown the coop, but does return for cookies and to play with the dog.”

The piece of art that Sutter-Blair donated for the Friends of the Belleville Public Library Fine Arts Raffle is titled "Good Wishes."

Sutter-Blair describes it as “sort of about wishing good luck, best wishes, farewell. It's a personal piece during a time of transition in my family’s life, and also honoring a friend who passed away from cancer while I was working on it.”

Sutter-Blair’s reason for donating to the library? “I love the library. When we moved to Belleville 20 years ago, one of the first things I did was join the Friends of the Belleville Library. Those friends have become lifelong friends. It is an honor to donate a piece to help support a new library for Belleville.”
